This was sent to me by my sons old principal. The use humor part has saved our sanity in this house!! My son has ADHD, ODD, a severe conduct disorder and dysgraphia. He’s such an amazing kid, I had to realize my style of parenting was the opposite of what he needed. But it took me 4 years to realize that!!! My son is close to going to the same place as yours, it’s terrifying as a parent to know that is what’s needed sometimes. You guys are doing so amazing 💜

I never knew DMDD was a thing. im pretty sure my son has it. He was diagnosed with ODD years ago. Im pretty sure my son is bipolar and no one (doctors, psychiatrist, or therapists) will listen to me. 😔

Adoptive momma here. One of my children was dx bipolar, ODD and many other acronyms. Had a handful of inpatient “visits”. It’s a very long story but he went to live at Girls and Boys Town in Omaha for his Jr and Sr years. It was the HARDEST decision his father and I ever made. It was also the best decision. It saved his life. He is now 38, runs his own very successful business, is married and has two children. All we ever wanted was for our children to be healthy, happy and productive members of society. And with a lot of hard work on everyone’s part, they all are. Know you are doing the right thing for him and also keeping everyone safe. If you can’t be there in person often, just make sure you call him often, send gifts, even small silly things will make his day. Have his sibling draw pictures,etc. Try as much as you can to keep him abreast of what’s happening at home but not enough to make him homesick or jealous. If that makes sense. He’s going to feel
