@wbztv: Milton residents are voicing safety concerns in the Blue Hills Reservation after Massachusetts State Police say a man stabbed a dog that allegedly attacked him. The incident happened Monday morning on Blue Hill River Road near Houghton's Pond.

Everyone in the comments need to understand its a leash law problem. Its not like it was a tiny dog off leash and nipped him, it was a pitbull. Many dog attacks have happened especially off leash. Dogs can be reactive of any kind, just leash your dog and you wont have someone defending themselves. If you have a problem with someone defending themselves, i will gladly take pleasure in increasing my ability to defend myself and others every single day even with gun laws

I am a woman. I was walking down the street to the bus stop to go to work. There was a huge dog unleaded, owner to far away to stop it if it chose to attack. I pulled my knife out and told the owner get it or I’m going to cut it. He was furious, but I was dead azz serious. He got his dog and I made it to work without being mulled by a huge unleashed dog.

German shepherds represent the vast majority of dog attacks, pitbull is the only breed mentioned in news stories, otherwise it is always just "a dog". the word choices of newscasts reflect the biases of those who produce it. look for similar bias in reporting involving race, sex, class, police, and religion. question the motive of whoever approves the script
