@thatmagicalnurse: That “fire crotch” feeling after Decadron is actually a known (and very awkward 😅) side effect. : It’s described as a sudden burning, tingling, or itching sensation in the groin/perineal area, and it usually happens: * Right after IV push * Lasts a few seconds to a couple minutes * Resolves on its own : Why it happens: : * Not fully understood, but thought to be related to rapid IV administration * The medication (or its preservative) may briefly irritate nerve endings or blood vessels in that region.. How to minimize it? 1) Push it slower (big one 👏) 2) Dilute it if possible (per protocol) ** Give a quick heads-up to the patient so they’re not caught off guard : What to tell patients: Something simple like: “Hey, you might feel a brief warm or burning sensation in your groin area for a few seconds totally normal and it passes quickly.” : Super uncomfortable to experience, but harmless. Definitely one of those nursing things you never forget the first time you see it! 😅 #nurse #nursesoftiktok #nursingstudent #nursingschool #nurses
