That’s how you avoid target fixation. Instead, use your peripheral vision to monitor what's in front of you, the edges and nearby cars. Also, watch the beam patterns. When headlights start behaving unusually in a curve, like shifting, stretching or overlapping, it can mean a vehicle is overtaking inside the curve.
