As a 2L law student. I am sooo interested in how AI will affect the practice of law for the future. I honestly cannot see it replacing attorneys but it will for sure have an impact on law in general.

AI cannot litigate and much of the case citations are incorrect. Can AI be a legal tool? Yes but does it replace Lawyers? Absolutely not. Lol

We will see how this lawsuit pans out against OpenAi for illegally practicing law.

Some will probably but it’s overstated imo; AI is still pretty often wrong about the law and doesn’t effectively pick up on nuances, litigators will be fine transactional I can’t speak for

AI is a great start but BFFR it cannot replace the full functionality of attorney, let alone nuance or the specifics of each matter. Again it’s a great start but pls, stop treating AI like it’s 100% fool proof, it’s glorified google 😭

Unless states ban “AI” lawyers. Like puts limits on the AI. It’s a really tough area but it needs to be regulated ASAP. We use it as a tool but even when lawyers use it things can go BAD fast. I’m a 3L and we’ve been taught about this from day 1. It’s super interesting because it’s so new

I’m a current law student on the legal analytics and innovation concentration track so I love AI but they’re not taking the jobs anytime soon 🤣 I love how much easier it will make research though

Attorneys will always be needed. First, humans have to monitor AI. AI is a start not the end. Second, AI can’t go to mediation, arbitration , or court.

I agree. It’s very important to pick a niche/speciality practice of law in the current climate.

The first case where a client who cannot afford legal representation, leverages AI and succeeds..will be monumental.

There’s a lot of reasons why AI will not replace lawyers. So many ethical, confidentiality, privacy, and practical concerns. AI can generate text or even help with research, but courts are very old institutions and the law is a conservative profession. People have a fit with changing any sort of legal doctrine. Bots are not taking over.

It will be very hard for lawyers to be replaced by AI, there’s a certain level of thinking/creativity that AI cannot do. AI can be a tool to help work go faster. These fearmongerings are not productive.

I think AI could take up a lot of the transactional work requiring less attorneys and support staff in those areas. I’m definitely interested in seeing how it will change different professions over the years.

The legal field and lawyers won’t be replaced with AI but the lawyers who don’t know how to use AI will be❗️Learn how to use it and get good at it

AI has been known to hallucinate cases also AI is not a person so it can not critically THINK which is what the lawyer is for. I promise AI is not coming for any REAL Lawyers job
