a soft passive voice does make sense for an isolated character, most of her speaking lines are half musing to animals, basically talking to herself.

It’s a very odd creative choice but it’s in service to making the real main characters of the story the three good fairies: Flora Fauna and Merryweather. Like they’re the ones who lead the entire film from the beginning to end. I enjoy it cause it’s interesting to see a Disney Princess film that’s almost purely from the POV of the comical side characters.

I love that about the movie as it's a take on the ballet. no words at all just beautiful music and dance. so I'm glad they kept her lines minimal as the story is mostly told through song and music. 🥰🥰🥰

She really is more of a plot device than a protagonist in Sleeping Beauty. The entire thing still has one foot in the Fantasia zone where it’s partially an adaptation of the ballet, and there’s quite a bit more focus on the three good fairies and their plucky resistance to Maleficent than anything else
