As a pharmacist who works in the doctor’s office, I heard the doctor say I sent it, check with the pharmacy to make sure they received it and let them know you are waiting. Patient walks up, the doctor said it would be ready. No ma’am I was standing right there, but let me see if we’ve received it and give us about 15 minutes or so and we will call you up or we can set it up to text you. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️

OR if it needs a prior auth. We don’t always know what your specific insurance will cover. And prior auths can take weeks.

I always tell patients to wait for an alert from the pharmacy. Even if it’s a brand new pharmacy you’ve never got meds from, you will still get a phone or text with all rx updates.

I’m surprised I didn’t really think about patients possibly misinterpreting “I sent the prescription” from a doctor when so many of them misinterpret “your prescription is due to be refilled” texts on the regular 😅
