Thanks for sharing. I totally agree. Sometimes instead of data and constant pushing and pressure we just need to have those moments where we connect, talk, have fun too.

I lost a student 2 years ago and I’m walking away from teaching after 13 years. I can’t be there anymore. I was department chair, conducted interviews, top tier teacher. I just cant. I’m currently spending my last spring break writing my resignation letter.

Yes, wjen I taught elementary for 13 years it happened 1x. When I moved to high school it happened a lot. I dreaded spring break because someone wasn't making it back to school. It takes a toll.

I’ve always been against the data craze. I’ve known my students before the data meetings. Relationships matter and will always outweigh numbers. Students are more likely to engage and perform when they feel encouraged, heard, seen, etc.

I work at elementary school. My fist task in the morning is to be at the from door. I try to greeting them with sweet words, because I strongly believe they need to feel welcome to school. Sometimes a word can make de different.

Losing students is so hard. I’ve lost a few, including a family member. ❤️🩹 The system that doesn’t look at anyone, students or educators, as more than data points, isn’t preparing education or children to thrive.

I have followed you for a while now. Even when you were doing your whole walking thing, I thought that was awesome. Pretty sure that was you. I am a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom and when it comes to star alt testing, I always tell my students. This is a snapshot of what you’re able to do in the beauty of Star alt is it’s one on one you read everything to them and there’s a nuance to it that I cannot get into you right here right now. But if you’re feeling like this as a general education teacher, I would highly highly encourage you to go and get your sped certification. Especially if you were in the state of Texas right now which I think you are what you were talking about that connection that meaningful connection happens in a self-contained classroom. And don’t always think of a self contained classroom as a behavioral unit I work with kids that have high support needs. There’s two levels in my classroom to high support means I have the lower support needs in my coach teach has a higher support needs. I have the kiddos that if you were to look at them, you would think they were Gen Ed. And I treat them such they roam the halls on their own. I do not have to monitor them. They know the expectations on the flipside the ones that have the higher supporting. We are there to support them as well. Look into special education because I think you would be a phenomenal special education teacher, and even with the school vouchers our jobs aren’t going anywhere because it’s federal law IDEA is federal law. Also, I just said no just know that I enjoy your content. I know that didn’t mean much. I’m a and nobody just one lonely, special education teacher in my heart goes out to you. I cannot even imagine losing a student like that however, it might’ve happened. I’m so sorry for your loss.
