Fully disagree with a lot of this. You can’t skip the events of Iron Gold and Dark Age if you want the story of Light Bringer. Especially if you want to talk about that character being the most compelling. It’s all shaped through the previous two books. Your hair is still great so you are forgiven.

I get why people love LB so much but I also would argue that if you’re just judging it off the enjoyment vibes, you’re discrediting the really articulate setup and character work of the previous two. Quicksilver’s plot? Sevro and Darrow? Cassius and Lysander? Eph? The weight of the events on Mars are what give Lightbringer the feeling that it has

thats probably true, you could technically start there if the others didn't exist. the way I look at it is the fact that it gives perspective on Lysander and his growth towards his path separate from darrow. also i know the other side characters seem un-needed. but I LOVED Ephraim enough to label him one of my faves. I think ultimately he could've maybe just condensed two into one book? just my thoughts...

I think a lot of people say it’s the best cuz it’s one of the first series they read. Like me with the Stormlight Archive. It’s nostalgic and therefore it’s the best. But I do agree that Lysanders pov was super well written!
