@silverstridescare: If you’re 65+ and can do 10 consecutive push-ups, you’re considered ‘good’ on fitness charts, but what does that actually mean? As a physical therapist, I look at the push-up as a functional movement, not just an exercise. It trains shoulders, arms, core, and back strength… all things you need if you ever have to recover from a ground-level fall. Most older adults don’t start on the floor, and that’s completely okay. Start at the wall → move to a countertop → then a bed or couch → and finally the floor. This is how you can safely progress to build strength without overloading your joints. Strength builds, and every repetition counts. Should out to @debbie.soares for the opening video. She’s absolutely crushing at 62 💪🏽 #HealthyAgingS#StrongerSeniorsP#PhysicalTherapyTipsF#FallPreventionStrengthTrainingForAll
