As a chronically ill person I know this is true bc I catch myself holding my breath for no reason so many times a day. Trying to fix this right now and it’s so hard 🥲

AuDHD, chronic health issues, and I constantly forget to breathe or breathe really shallow and unintentionally hold my breath. It is so uncomfortable and makes me feel terrible 😔

I totally believe you but every time I get on this app someone is telling me I’m not doing something correctly or I’ll get a chronic disease. I just got through seeing a video on my fascia now I’m not breathing right. Just living is so hard and complicated. 😩😩

I finally found a good physiotherapist, and she wouldn’t let me do any other exercises until I learned how to connect and breathe with my diaphragm. It takes a while to really figure it out!

This is why exercise is so important because it’s often the only time that people breathe deeply in their day

If you can’t get yourself to meditate you’ve gotta at least practice breathwork 👌🏻 shallow breathing keeps us in a triggered fight/flight

i 10000% agree that breathing is very important… however i was in band when i was diagnosed w chronic illness and i was constantly using diaphragmatic breathing to play my instrument (clarinet). I practiced 2-3 times a day from 12-17. what i learned is that tongue posture is very very important to vagus nerve function and breathing, and it can also be an issue for a lot of these chronic illnesses (specifically HSD/hEDS). your tongue needs to be positioned to touch the back of your top front teeth, slightly suctioned to the roof of your mouth to open and stabilize your airway. ALWAYS. except for when you are eating/drinking. pair the tongue posture with diaphragmatic breathing and see how much it improves your breathing!!! correcting my tongue posture changed my life!!
