@lexyflorentina: Birds do not sing when predators are present. So when we step outside and hear a song bird, chirping in the trees, something undeniable happens in our nervous system. We naturally orient to the sound. And it sends a signal to our body that the environment is safe. Just like all things in nature, birds have a special way of communicating safety cues. And for many of us, those cues are picked up without us ever realizing it. The sound takes us out of our own head and brings us into the present. Because unlike defensive orientation (startled by a loud noise for example) song birds orient us to curiosity and exploration. That’s a safety signal. This is why sound plays such an important role in regulating our nervous system. And why for many of us, overstimulation via sound and loud noises so easily dysregulates us. It’s not a reaction that needs fixing. It’s highly appropriate. So while you explore what works for your unique nervous system, consider the sounds that you are exposed to on a daily basis and perhaps give yourself the opportunity to listen to the birds ✨ #nervoussystemhealing #healingtiktok #anxietyrelief #fyp #birdsounds
