Severe pain itself is a trauma as well. I have a lot of fear around my pain escalating to its worst again! Suffering like that stays with you 💙

See, I can agree with the way that you are saying this.. it’s not the way my doctor spoke to me. And if you knew me, you would know, that the PTSD came from medical care, losing myself due to my health…

I had a pain management doctor once who was also a psychiatrist. I thought this was genius. I don’t know if there have been any studies, but in my experience if you have chronic pain, at some point no matter how tough you are you’re going to develop depression at the very least. Probably also anxiety and PTSD. Chronic pain doesn’t just effect you physically, it effects you socially, financially, emotionally, sexually… As a healthcare worker I see every day how we need to treat every patient with a wholistic approach. If you have chronic pain it’s going to effect your emotions, if you have financial problems that can effect your ability to seek care, etc. But the worst, by far is being in chronic pain and feeling like no one cares. And honestly? If you have never experienced chronic pain you have no idea. I would never wish chronic pain on anyone, but if I ever found a pain management doctor who also had chronic pain I would hold on to them and never let them go.

I had severe anxiety for years debilitating. But my pain was better. Is thank the lord I found an amazing medication and Gods help I am 100% better mentally. But now my pain in the body is so worse debilitating too. It almost feels like I traded one for the other.

I am literally traumatized by your system and not just me my mom is too I want to ask for some education on a pain pump when you are currently tolerating oral meds? Ofc not medical advice just could you explain how it works (I was under the impression that was the step after you can’t tolerate normal meds)

I think that part of PTSD is never knowing when a flare might occur or how severe it will be. Your nervous system is always on alert!

I moved towns and transfered all my past history over to the new Dr. When I went to see him to get my pain medication, he told me I could heal my pain with my mind !!!! It took me a long time to find another Dr, to say the least.

Am I weird or does anyone else experience pain that's so bad you tell ppl not to touch you? I tell my friend I hurt so much that even my hair hurts . She looks at me like I'm crazy. May be I am crazy ....I'm in so much pain some nights I can't even tolerate a blanket.

Although they tested my pain levels and apparently I have an extremely high tolerance to pane. Phd painstudy in Brussels for breastcancer survivors. I always get comments by Dr's that I'm to sensitive for pain, but apperantly not, the opposite actually. My small nerves are damaged and I have psoriasis artritis and artrosis... age 48.

Very important to find a chronic pain therapist…… 🥰 they are actually very hard to find usually, you can find one at your local VA hospital and they deal with people who have PTSD and limb loss or all the things. That was my personal experience. It takes a long time to a chronic pain therapist that knows anything about rare illnesses.

What I feel so bitter about it I've forgotten what it's like to be pain free, I can't remember what it feels like to get up and feel OK. I think its like a form of grief.
