@luciemarie24: wow 10 years since I’ve been amputated of both of my legs and since my life changed forever. let me explain briefly what happened, I entered the hospital in august 2015 and after so many complications I ended up being amputated of both of my legs on April 8th 2016. then I’ve had my first pair of prostheses around December 2016 to like maybe middle 2017 and then again after some more complications I couldn’t walk anymore, my right knee was blocked so I had to be re amputated of this one in January 2021 and since then I’m really able to walk again and making progress time to time and keep trying again & again to get better. i don’t really know how to feel, I was 17 when it happened and I’m now 27 it feels like i’ve lived differents lives since then, I’ve been through so much and I know I used to be mad at my parents to have made this decision for me but if they didn’t l wouldn’t be here anymore. I wouldn’t have be here to live the many experiences and people I’ve been able to meet and have in my life since then so even though I would have prefer to still have my real legs as life would’ve been easier, I’m glad to still be here and to keep doing my best even when life gets hard. I know many people would not read or watch till the end but thank you if you did. also grateful to have many of my favorite people showing me so much love & support and it really helps me to keep going❤️🩹 #evolution #progress #10years
same!! I have been in rehab for 10 years!! it is a long time! but it is amazing when you can progress alongside with the rehab team, family/friendswho support you through thick thin!! wow wow!! my heart is so happy for you!! you don't realize how much you can achieve!!
10 years ago I lost my leg and also had to get a further revision of amputation. after 15 surgeries I got the worst news of my life and I am sure you were the same, but now I wouldn't change it for the world! it has made me the person that God has moulded me to be. I had to heal for grieving who I once was and I am sure you went through the grief
we deal with it differently but after 10 no matter how flawed we all are we are imperfectly beautiful and you my dear are very much imperfectly perfect and beautiful in your own way!
I am still under the rehab team as I have a rare disease and currently the only amputee in Northern Ireland and United Kingdom who has had an amputation due to the rare disease. so many tries to walk with prothesis but wasn't working until they changed my leg to an above knee prothesis. I flex the stump which is the size of my index finger. so too small. I have no control and shakes when I try to straighten out uncontrollably.
however this leg has been working for me but I have been very unwell it knocked off my feet last year and for the fourth time I will be doing more rehab again. I am determined to do better and be better!! determination and having the desire to walk is the mental side of it all healthy, however we have to care for our body and not to overdo it.iused to want to try and complete tasks too quickly and want my leg and run!
I realized though, the hard way you have to crawl before you walk!! so yeah, you are spirit and your fight to keep going will help not only you but many others that they can achieve the impossible!!
keep shining a light to everyone on here and we are your digital sisters in Christ! x
