I’m thinking about the fact that it’s wild to me that I’ve been doing this my whole life and I thought everybody else did this too

I struggle with this, logical answers win regardless of how I am feeling. tbf I am in fight/flight mode quite often.

absolutely brilliant. teaching my teenage sons how to do the same and the positive reflections im seeing is lovely... I practise this with my marriage. we have never fought because just that simple stop, think, act/react. love this

decartes little piece of wax... that process woke me up to metacognition back in univ. and you're right, it does change things.

I do a lot of metacognition but it’s a double edged sword because I’ve become a bit anxious about the times we are living in 😂😩

I love being able to do this...its like watching yourself from the outside and you can consciously choose a different outcome

I have never done this, I go on my emotions not my thoughts, I often regret my actions. I want to change this and hopefully Metacognition will help

I feel like this is very similar to what I do with my psychologist as a borderline personality patient. Checking my own inner dialect and then creating “space” before instantly reacting (negatively). It’s been LIFE changing! Thank u for your vid !! 🥰

So if I’m understanding correctly; it’s like becoming the observer of our internal dialogue (I call my dialogue the “narrator”). This is a really interesting exercise - observing the narrator !
