Across parts of the United States, South America, Europe, and other countries, thousands of pregnant mares are subjected to an unimaginable cycle of cruelty just to extract a hormone called PMSG (Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin). 🔴 What is PMSG and Why is it Used? PMSG is a hormone found in the blood of pregnant mares, and it is harvested to be used in factory farming, specifically in the pork industry. It is injected into pigs, cows, and sheep to force unnatural reproductive cycles while also making them produce more offspring at a faster rate. 🔴 The Horrific Reality for Mares • Mares are repeatedly impregnated only for their blood to be extracted during early pregnancy. • They endure huge blood withdrawals, leaving them weak, anemic, and suffering. • Many collapse, miscarry, or die from the constant strain. • Once they can no longer produce the hormone, they are often slaughtered for meat. All of this—to artificially manipulate mass production in the pork industry. Did I mention that once they harvest the hormone, they force the mare to abort the fetus so they can impregnate her again. 🔴 The Pork Industry’s Role Most people have no idea that this is happening, yet big agriculture companies continue to use PMSG despite the extreme suffering it causes. This should be illegal. 🔴 WHAT CAN YOU DO: •Stop supporting factory-farmed pork. Many ethical farms do NOT use PMSG. •Raise awareness. The more people know, the more pressure we can put on industries to stop using PMSG. •Demand a ban. Governments and regulatory bodies need to make this practice illegal worldwide.
