I watched the haunting of hill house before I read the book and that was a mistake. I was so disappointed

Did you know that Jackson said the majority of letters she received regarding “The Lottery” were from people asking if the lottery was real, and could they go watch? Harrowing to say the least.

I actually think Steven king used The haunting of hill house as an outline for The shining. He dishonestly plagiarizes Jackson and uses Elenor (lead character) as a model for the novel

LOVE Shirley Jackson. “The Summer People” and “The Witch” are excellent, lesser-known stories for anyone wanting to give her a try.

The older I get, the more I realize how young 48 actually is. I never knew she didn’t live to be an old woman ☹️

And how did Jackson reply to all those complaints? Iconically - "If you don't like my peaches, don't shake my tree"
