Day 2: Building our classroom behavior system 🤍 Today I had almost my entire class — 34 little learners — and we sat down and explicitly talked through our classroom behavior management system AND our class incentive jar. And when I say you have to bring the ENERGY… I mean BRING 👏🏽 THE 👏🏽 ENERGY 👏🏽 If I’m excited about our clip chart, they’re excited. If I’m excited about making good choices, they’re excited. If I’m excited about earning something together as a class, THEY are excited. But one thing I’m really intentional about is the language I use. If your clip moves down, it’s okay. You can always make a better choice and move it back up. I want my students to understand that their choices matter, but also that they always have an opportunity to reset. We also talked about our class jar and how we can earn 10 gummy bears when someone outside of our classroom compliments us 🍬 Because I want my students to understand that our expectations don’t stop when we leave our classroom. And yes, I know there are MANY opinions about classroom incentives. But these are LITTLE KIDS. I’m not just using prizes to get them to behave. I’m building them up with affirmations, celebrations, encouragement, class goals, and opportunities to experience success TOGETHER. This is such a huge part of how I build classroom community, especially during those first few weeks of school. So here’s a little sneak peek at the language I’m using with my students because sometimes we know WHAT we want to teach… we just need to hear what it actually sounds like. Save this for your first weeks back and send it to a teacher who could use some classroom management language! 🍎✨ #teacher #teachersoftiktok #teachertok #teacherlife #classroommanagement
