@kirstiefrances: 4 things I wish I knew when I first started my journey as a florist… 💐 1. You won’t have your own style in the beginning and that’s ok. The more you practice and find confidence in the skill of floristry your style will emerge. 2. You don’t need to have a shop/studio with it all figured out to start. I ran my business from my 2 bedroom flat, using the spare room as my work space. Then when it grew I actually moved it into my old bedroom at my mums house! You’ll make it work. 3. Spend time with other florists. I held myself back for years thinking I would be rejected by others because I didn’t have formal training. Turns out when you work with others or ask for their advice you’ll learn so much and gain value that can’t be found figuring out alone. 4. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. It’s easy to get caught up looking at how successful other florists look that you doubt yourself too much and loose sight of your achievements. Looking back at videos from when I started fills me with so much happiness because back then I honestly felt like I had no clue what I was doing. You may well feel like a fraud when you start if you’ve gone the self taught root. Just remember it’s a limiting self belief ❤️ don’t give up on your dreams!!
