Not me running over to YouTube to learn how to make a pivot table, even though I have no need to make a pivot table in my corporate life 😂😂

Her leadership saw the same things her subordinates did...they just didn't care until HR was called.

I 100% lied at 20yo for a data job - because I knew how to google and figure out what needed to be done. 20 years later… it worked out. 🤣🤣🤣

Not me over here hoping Team member #1 gets promoted. They were definitely organized, knew the role, and also had the trust of their fellow teammates during the process.

I mean, at some point it’s not on the trainer - I can train someone to the best of my ability with guides and show-how’s and it’s up to the person to ingrain the info or keep notes

the problem with "fake it til you make it" is sometimes you get caught faking it..

Ah, I was waiting for Ops to suggest some further digging on who decided she was fit for the role in the first place.

I kinda love that their looking into who and why she got promoted because that definitely needs to be dealt with before they promote another person into a position they’re not ready for

promotion for the leader of the 10 employee group and rehire for their role so the group has the same capacity

Here’s the thing, the team isn’t going to respect her even if she does get the training now. The trust is broken.

And it’s not just retraining. She’s taking credit for the work of others.

I’m glad the Manager also wanted to know who hired and trained her, because those are also important items that need to be addressed.

If you're going to fake it til you make it you have to actually put the effort in to make it not just fake it forever!

Hard skills can be trained. Soft skills (like taking credit for others’ work) cannot.

When I got my current job I knew I only had about half the skills I needed for the job. I gave my 2-week notice at my old job and spent those two weeks until I started my new job studying and watching YouTube videos to make sure that I had the skills that I needed. Excel is nowhere near as obscure as the program I work in. It was a choice for her not to learn her job.
