@joseph.2016: NP (SL) Limited and Leonoil Company Limited have partnered to deliver a modern 50-bed Burns Unit, along with advanced CT scan and ultrasound facilities, at Connaught Government Hospital in Freetown, which President Dr. Julius Maada Bio officially commissioned on 2 April 2026. This is Sierra Leone’s first specialized burns treatment center, featuring operating theatres, ICU, and high-dependency units for adults and children. It directly addresses the country’s critical gaps in emergency care exposed by the 2021 Wellington fuel tanker disaster, which highlighted the lack of dedicated burns facilities amid an estimated 40,000 annual burn cases, mostly involving children.
