the Jungle Bird is Tikki. without a doubt in my mind. structurally speaking you could make an argument around it being in the sours family but culturally tikki. multiple juices, a focus on smoothness, and the use of tropical and or exotic flavors being the defining features of tikki style. now some might argue that because it is a bittersweet cocktail it can't be tikki but to them I'd say they are mistaking the correlation for something it isn't.

It’s a modern classic. Add 1/4 oz more citrus and shake the shit out of it, get more foam from the pineapple. Add splash saline if you want repeat bar customers.

I wouldn’t classify it as the “quintessential tiki drink” because it doesn’t really have that flavor profile. When I think Tiki I think rum, spices (cinnamon, ginger, allspice, etc), citrus. It’s very close, but it’s more of… a bitter rum sour than a classic tiki style cocktail, in my opinion
