@deeptimevisualised: This is how Earth’s oceans began. Around 4 billion years ago, during the Hadean Eon, our planet looked nothing like it does today. There were no oceans, no continents, and no life, just a hot, unstable surface and a dense atmosphere filled with water vapour and volcanic gases. As Earth slowly cooled, that water vapour began to condense. Thick clouds formed… and for the first time, rain began to fall. But the surface was still intensely hot. When water reached the ground, it evaporated almost instantly, rising back into the atmosphere as steam. This created a continuous cycle: rain falling, water evaporating, and clouds reforming again and again. Over time, as the planet continued to cool, something changed. Water no longer vanished on contact. It began to collect… to pool… and eventually, to form the first early oceans. This moment marked a critical turning point in Earth’s history, the beginning of a stable water cycle, and the foundation for everything that would come next.
