it's not even the 8 hrs at work it's the 2 hr commute and 1 hr unpaid lunch on top of getting ready. leave at 7 get home at 6:15 it's brutal and then only 2 days off.

The fact that many of us commute to work and work more than 8 hours. This takes the time spent with family down to practically nothing. Once you are home you have cooking, cleaning, and preparing yourself for another day of the same chaos. It’s a vicious cycle.

I think constantly about how we could easily achieve better work/life balance even doing 40 hour weeks if we just allowed people to work from home, but that won't happen cause companies have invested too much money into office buildings when if said office buildings were empty we could turn them into apartments, hospitals, or other useful things to better the community. we could also get more cars off the road. but this will never happen cause of capitalism 😭

The 8 hour work day is just 24 divided by three. It worked for the slogan “8 for work, 8 for sleep, and 8 for what we will”. There is nothing natural about it.
