@territorio_de_zaguates: This is a quick 30 second snap shot of just 8 volunteers (we had 30 at the time helping with this ‘crate train’) moving 60+ dogs during the storm yesterday. All the dogs outside were moved inside the clinic once the storm was upon us. We had soaked crates, soaked dogs, ruined paperwork and just enough room to find space for 60+ crates. We filled every empty floor space with dog crates and that was when everything that was going so smoothly that day changed in an instant. This storm threw a huge challenge our way and everyone volunteering that day took the challenge and far exceeded expectations. What happened yesterday was never talked about in our clinic training, no one was prepared for this! and I couldn’t be more proud of how every single person in that instant knew one thing- take care of these dogs. Get them dry, warm and comfortable. All those donated towels came in handy - crates & dogs dried off & the heat was turned on. The dogs after this realized they were safe and all relaxed. They got lots of pets & attention as we worked thru the ‘now what and how’ part of the day since everything we were doing was thrown out the window. Although the day didn’t turn out the way we had hoped and planned for the last month it was still a success. We still sterilized over 100 animals thanks to all the amazing volunteers who worked 15-19 hrs yesterday to make this happen.
