It only took the Soviet Union about 12 years from a feudalist country to a military superpower to industrialise the country. Thats still an impressive accomplishment no matter your opinion on the Soviet Union. What are some people saying in these comments?

The soviet union was definitely not a complete failure it even overtook Argentina in gdp even though Argentina had almost double the gdp in the 1928 and outstripped brazil by a lot they still couldn’t keep up with the west and they stagnated in the 1970 and also had a lot of problems with efficiency the central planning was just very inefficient and produced a lot of shortages or surpluses so no i dont think central planning was good and we leftists should strive for a more market oriented solution

I hate communism but you have to admit that it is very effective in industrializing very quickly

I do admit there were downsides to Stalin, like his socially conservative laws, but other than that he’s the reason the USSR made it so far in such a short time.

And America helped to them to achieve it because of the Great Depression n the fact they needed to earn money during the crisis so they build copies of US factories in USSR (just like with China in 80-00s)

Other countries had to invent and implement industrial technology from scratch. Russia, by the time they finally began to industrialize, already had the technology needed as the Industrial Revolution began nearly a century prior. Two vastly different scenarios
