@mama.unfiltered: Me to my husband: “it’ll be quick” 🤗 And now my husband and my FAVORITE brother-in-law Mike are army crawling into a 2-foot crawlspace filled with dirt, chaos, and spider crickets. Step 1: Pop the hatch open Smells like moisture, bad decisions, and 1937 Step 2: Shine the flashlights in (also using my selfie light because it’s elite lighting 😂) They spot rotted sill plates… aka the thing holding the ENTIRE house together (sounds mildly important I guess) Step 3: Get down and dirty Because my husband “LOVES getting down and dirty 😏” and we’re “saving money” doing it ourselves Step 4: I make the mistake of peeking Spider crickets. Jumping. Aggressively. I scream. They scream. Everyone screams. I am no longer allowed to look down there Step 5: They army crawl deeper No room to sit, stand, or rethink their life choices Step 6: Find the damage Rotted sill plate, cracked joists… you know… CASUAL Step 7: Start the repair Replacing structural wood while laying flat like a mechanic under a car Except the car is a house And I’m upstairs on the slanted floor yelling “I’M STANDING ON BUSINESS” (shaking the already questionable house) No one laughs. I laugh enough for everyone 😂 Step 8: Me… being helpful Trying not to piss him off by ripping up the kitchen floor he told me NOT to touch “I SWEAR I’M NOT RIPPING IT UP” actively ripping it up Step 9: They crawl back out Covered in dirt, sweat, and emotional damage Step 10: Me: “that wasn’t so bad!” 😊 #houserenovation #fixerupper #homeprojects e #homeimprovement #homeprojects
