I have an anxiety disorder and it’s exhausting having to explain that my anxiety is different than urs I get anxious literally thinking about things that haven’t even happened yet and I’ve had anxiety so bad about driving that I stopped leaving the house anxiety disorders are so disabling

Hi unrelated lmao sorry but i wanna let u know I check in on you every now and again and think of you occasionally and I am genuinely cheering you on, always wishing you the best of luck through this, you do so much good for harm reduction advocacy and I’ve actually learnt quite a lot from you lol, keep yourself safe and do what you can to cope because you deserve to live a long happy life and get through to the other side of this, you leave a positive print in this world for other addicts and ur voice matters, u spread hope despite ur own struggles and i have u in my thoughts, have a safe day and drink water

100%. even two people with the same disorder can be affected differently. i have crippling anxiety due to PTSD and my #1 priority in therapy is to get well enough for school/work. being on disability is not like having a permanent vacation, it SUCKS. i miss being a part of society

Oh, I know though Cameron! I'm on SSDI, and I hope these haters come at me. You're anxiety is valid, as well as your other conditions. I wish you the best in your recovery. Please keep use updated and don't get discouraged.

Why think outside of yourself when you can judge people from the lens of your OWN experience 😍😍 I love individualism so so so much (jk)

The one thing (as a therapist) I like to point out with each and every diagnosis is that it must meet the criteria for interfering with daily functioning in order for it to be a diagnosis. Every single disorder.

this is so real- i often compare it to ppl who have been in car accidents- that feeling right before you're going to get hit (combo terror + hopelessness + resignation) is what i experience on a regular basis doing regular bullshit.

No seriously, it kind of sucks that the word anxiety is used to describe both mild anxiety that people can face in stressful situations and life ruining anxiety disorders

It’s me again :
I’ve had this conversation with ppl about ocd, agoraphobia, adhd/ being on the spectrum. It’s not omg im so ocd i put my clothes away … its more like I’ve been up for 3 days ironing and color / sleeve length coding my entire 2-3 closets , sorting my 300 pen collection , all while doing weird anxious checks … listening to TikTok and music … or collecting 200 gigs of books because its the least destructive ocd activity you have mean while you have over 30,000 !!!! Books which you can’t actually read because you can’t focus that long , that you also try to organize . Or the routines you have that if you don’t leave the house ( to go to work) you have the sense of impending doom and then having zero friends ( eg yesterday and the day before were the first time I hung out with ppl in 3 years … and I threw my self in it I went OT with my brother ) or not having groceries in your house because you can only get your self to go to “other” places every 3-6 months . Eating pickles , and then “welfare” noodles … and eventually tea and sleep … None of this makes sense because I’m typing in frustration but it’s not cute … I had plans for my 40th bday …. With 2 of my aunts to eat lunch … but nothing felt confirmed I did not know where we were going … I kept asking for days … I lost my shit … showered and then laid in bed and cried the entire day I couldn’t leave and stopped answering my phone . If I do make it to my aunts house it takes me 3 days to pack and mentally prepare my self … and this is with medication and 30+ years of therapy 🤷🏽♀️some ppl fight to get to tomorrow . No one knows what it’s like to be the next person so what . A person should have could have would have done is a personal thing. Trauma consumes many of us

A lot of people probably don't realize, bc they don't know how disability works, that if you had been capable of working your forty quarters, it would pretty much double your monthly payments for the rest of your life, and I think most ppl have that done by the end of their 20s (it took me till my mid 30s). obviously most of the ppl who are capable of doing so, even just barely, get it done, bc you receive that much larger monthly amount for decades to come. Full SSDI is worth so much more than SSI, a LOT of ppl risk injury or worse to get it done, so im guessing you would have if you could have.
