Even if they do switch, who's gonna tell them about the bunch of advanced math and theories you have to learn about it. AND Electrical Engineering has one of the most highest dropout rates, CS may be hard... but EE is HARD.

Cs majors dont switch to electrical engineering rather to computer engineering. Most do not like math and electrical is math dense. EE is also everywhere not based in one place unless you are really getting specialized.

Electrical eng encompasses a huge multi-industry market; so in some ways there are even more career opportunities from hardware to power eng to consulting. Decent grades in engineering can lead to “discipline hopping” too, if you can find an opportunity or supplemental courses. A great in between is if someone can do a major in EE and minor in computer (or something equivalent) and you can morph into whatever you want (software, hardware, power systems, etc). EE is not just localized to the Bay Area. Only big companies that focus on semiconductors and hardware are mainly in the Bay Area and along the west coast. EEs of all kind are needed everywhere in america

EE isn’t just hardware and just because it is dependent on physical infrastructure doesn’t mean your work is bound to the location. You can design, validate, verify chips and other components anywhere with software. And it isn’t just localized in SF. Def around any tech hub even in Boston, Austin, Phoenix, ATL, and etc

This is so intresting! Im not from America but it is really intresting to see how software dominant America is. I think it has something to do with this distaste of Goverment interference. Hardware companies need infrastructure which can only be provided by the goverment or if youre filthy rich like elon musk
