Soviet style isn’t a style. It’s a methodology. How they train, how they throw, when to engage, when to not engage, positioning etc. It’s based around ring generalship. What happens is all the Soviet fighters go through that system; the system is designed to take your personal boxing style and develop it with Soviet boxing fundamentals. Beterbiev, Kovalev, Loma, GGG, Bivol, Pirog etc all have their own distinct styles with Soviet influence. Boxing media just says “Soviet style” because it’s palatable to the casual fan.

Soviet style was primarily used for amateur boxing. High volume punches in only 3 rounds. Maintaining this style on a pro level takes way more skill and stamina to maintain it. Bivol is the true Soviet mold. The other guys are a hybrid of this method of boxing.

Can’t lie only one w actual Soviet style is Bivol, Loma and Usyk been coached by Lomas Dad since they started and they both have some of the most beautiful inside games where the Soviet style focuses on staying outside, allowing the full use of longer reaches.
