I had one of my admin come in asking if this is a gr2 classroom or gr10 because they were all so chatty today… they were doing their small group discussions that count towards their grade and I finally was successful in getting them to talk to each other 🙃

There’s loud to a point if it’s disruptive to other classes that’s an issue is it loud to be loud? Are they actually discuss discussing the lesson or the purpose of the lesson or their project? That’s the hope too

I do a 5 minute silence call, and the kids love it. 5 minutes to silently work. I tell them that it’s where you can blame the teacher for having to actually work. Funnily enough, it usually naturally extends after I lift the silence.

I’m a first year teacher and haven’t gotten told twice that my classroom is too loud. I changed one day and started to calm down the vibes and be quieter and my students literally said “are you okay?” So yeah we brought the vibes back.
