Some confuse respect with fear or manners. Respect means respecting the person and their boundaries and behavior. Respect means acknowledging what a person has achieved.

the golden rule "treat others the way you want them to treat you" i work in the maintenance field in a retirement home and got yelled at by a resident for something out of my control. I replied to them with that and then said I had come in with a smile and was attempting to fix the issue but an outside party had to come in. Since then that resident has been kinder to me but is still problematic for others 😪🤦🏼

The amount of times I’ve gotten into a screaming match with my dad over my elbows being on the table. I once put my foot on the table after he said that elbows on the table were disrespectful bc of tradition. “There’s no tradition that specifically says having ur feet on the table is disrespectful”

I think elbows thing comes from like older tables that would wear down from things like that. But now it’s not really an issue they’re just holding on to that old idea
