@natty__daddy: rounding your back during deadlifts is actually more safe for your back--and a healthy back is nearly essential for building quality glutes which is essential for a good life. | on deadlift bracing | Bring your ribcage down and stack it over your pelvis. inhale deeply, expanding your abdomen. Hold this air while you hoist. This helps: 1) create intra-abdominal pressure which stabilizes and protects the spine 2) keep the bar close to my center of mass which mitigates the tension in my back 3) prevent my hips from rising first which also helps keep the tension off my back #deadlifts #glutes #peachtalk #strengthtraining #backpain

His back is rounded because of his form. Essentially he tucks in and rounds out to put pressure on his core to keep him stable. He mentioned it creates more intra abdominal pressure which is the interaction between the abdominal wall( muscle skin and tissue) and your organs. This varies throughout your breathing cycle which is why he said to inhale deeply. This interaction is actually where the abdominal wall applies an inward pressure while the organs exert an outward force, this includes the diaphragm which when inhaled flattens it, causing there to be less volume stabilizing the back. which is why breathing changes the aforementioned intra abdominal pressure. As for his other 2 points they are quite simple, point 2 is where he says it will keep the bar closed. This is because of 4 reasons. These reasons are 1, being that it gives you a shorter torso. This shorter torso gets your shoulders further back horizontally leaving your arms(and the bar) closer to your body, this is important because it changes the bar's leverage making it easier to lift. The second point is, it pushes your hips forward putting it in a better position, as the hip is the main joint where the action happens putting it in a better position will help with lifting more weight. Third, when your back is rounded it puts your shoulders further down (by rounding them out). This puts them closer to the hips which is the center of gravity and where a lot of work happens. Lastly, it is actually a mix of points 1 and 3. With the combination of a smaller torso and having your shoulders rounded out it reduces the distance horizontally from you and the bar. This requires less torque/ effort to move the weight. Finally he also mentions that it helps his hips stay down, this is because his shoulders are further out horizontally, his hips are lower and closer to the bar so he doesn't fall over.
Am I right?
