Egen though I resoect you. This is one of the worst tips you could ever give. Websites and web apps are most important than ever. Ai agents find info from websites. If you dont have one and dont do seo, geo all those ai will never mention you. Plus all of the big platforms come from web. Youtube, chatgpt, etc

I run a marketing and I dont agree with this. yes ai agents are definitely on the rise. but right now people are still 'mostly' using websites. no doubt its on the decline but its not gone. if this person wanted to win in 5 years and he has the capital to last that long. then yeh. build am agent. if he wants money tomorrow. he needs a website

Don't build a website that serves the same purpose as GPT or Claude, especially in the information extraction space , AI can already fo this. If it's a tool, or an app that's solves an actual problem that's real, the better

“Don’t build websites/apps anymore, just build agents” is an oversimplified take that completely ignores context and product category. Especially if he wants to build a student community: community platform (wow, a website), groups/forums/chat (wow, also a website), events, resources, matching/networking are all great potential ideas. AI agents, and I’m not even sure an agent is needed here, maybe rather a chatbot or assistant, are an additional layer that can help the delivery and experience. A lot of people are using “AI agents” as a buzzword right now without really thinking through the actual product or use case. Maybe we’d know what would work best for his idea if the guy had actually finished explaining it.
