@mrssharonschwarz: There is a word we use when we talk about children who are kind, capable, curious, and resilient. We say they were raised. Not parented perfectly. Not shielded from every hard thing. Not praised at every turn. Raised. After 24 years in a classroom, I have had the privilege of watching children grow. And what I have seen, over and over, is that the children who thrive are not the ones who were protected from difficulty. They are the ones who had adults in their lives who believed in them enough to hold a standard, stay present, and lead with both warmth and conviction. R.A.I.S.E.D. is the framework I built from everything I have witnessed work — in school and at home with my own two sons. Six principles. Not a checklist. A way of thinking about what children actually need from the adults who love them most. R — Routines & Rhythms Predictable rhythms tell a child that the world is safe and the adults around them are steady. That is not rigidity. That is love with a structure. A — Adults as Anchors The most grounding thing you can give your child is a parent who is not afraid to lead. They need your steadiness more than your approval. I — Integrity in Living Our children learn who to be by watching who we are when things are hard. Every ordinary moment is an opportunity to show them what integrity looks like in real life. S — High Standards When you expect more, you are telling your child: I see what you are capable of. I believe in you enough to require it. Children rise to what the adults around them believe is possible. E — Engaging Thoughtfully The moments that matter most to our children are rarely the ones we planned. They happen when we are simply there. Eye contact. A real conversation. The phone put down without being asked. D — Disciplining with Dignity A child who is corrected with consistency and respect learns that accountability and love live in the same house. That child grows up knowing that consequences are not the opposite of care. They are part of it. #MomsofTikTok #parentingtips #momtock #raisingkids #teachers
