If you retire from the military it's almost impossible to not become wealthy IF YOU PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT. Divorce and child support are the first wealth killers. Avoid them if at all possible. Buy a property or two and earn rental payments; get as much VA disability as you qualify for; use TRICARE instead of the company health insurance; get the full employer match in your 401k plan; and invest as much of your retirement, disability checks, and salary as you can in an index fund tracking the S&P 500 and forget about that money and let it grow. Your generational wealth will be off to an amazing start and you'll be better off than anyone else that never had the military leg up.

Yup, 4 rental homes(Texas, Cali and Hawaii), 150k my TSP… retire in two years. Plan on buying multi units back in Texas when i retire and have time to focus on real estate more. From immigrant parents to building generational wealth 😁
