Simple. Effective. Owner could do it. Thank goodness they made it impossible to do AND afford today.

The reason they don’t make things like this anymore is because people wouldn’t have to buy new cars every 10 years and the auto industry would collapse.

"Thurrrr betturd than nu cuhrrrs!!" For maintenance? Sure. Reliability? Absolutely not. Just because a part is easy to replace, doesn't negate the part was replaced.

I know people think this is better because it's simple. it's really not. these engines required near constant adjustment to keep them running right. the ignition timing was pretty loose and you had to go fiddle with the mechanism or replace parts regularly. a modern car never needs timing adjustment. spark plugs on a model A might last as few thousand miles. on a modern car they last 100k. on the model A you had a lever on the steering column to adjust the timing and if you got it wrong it could mean real problems.

Yep. Our 1930 Model A had these. I chose to switch to wires, but I still have the brass tabs.

Nice and all, but a glitchy 16 inch infotainment center would really put this over the top
