Hair and makeup artist here. Freshly clean hair is preferred. I can always but enough texturing product in it. The worst is when someone sits down and says… “I came with my hair dirty for you.” Excuse me, but no ma’am.

As a retired hairdresser who did bridal hair, yes wash your hair! Nothing worse than trying to create a bridal hairstyle on oily, dirty hair!
