he didn't pose the question "are you happy?" to just his "younger self", it's the age he never got to be, mentally or physically, he never got to read those star farrer comics, never played another game of soccer with Brad and Gene. he was to busy training to save Ninjago from his grandfather's faults in judgement and his father's evil. It's the part of himself he never got to explore, it's those developmental years teachers talk about. It's the 5 years he could've spent with Wu and The Ninja, or spent mulling over and accepting the fact he had to defeat his own father.
