The more I hear you, the more I'm convinced the beauty of life lies precisely in its absurdly, awkward, absolute mystery.

If you want to understand what's actually going on behind the scenes, read a few chapters form The Obscured Game book. Lorian Slate knew everything.

I've been in one of the worst head spaces I have ever known. These books (the powers of horror, on the tragic, infinite and finite games, etc) you talk about are the one of two... maybe three things keeping me alive. Thank you for talking about them.

I'm so glad you talk about how this affected your driving. Like people imagine these questions so distant to reality. I've had panic disorder ever since I got heavy into meditation and developed existential ocd when I was 16 (now 34). When I have these experiences they are seen as disordered. But honestly it's human and the normalcy helps me feel safer in this space.

Sufi mysticism kinda feels like a parent to me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 It gave my soul or the observer in me a safe home with walls and a roof + nourishes me. So even when things get a lil bizarre irl, there is still a place I can comfortably sit in and watch from until the storm is over and/or I’m ready to be the human me again. Best of both worlds. The boundaries are not scary anymore and I feel fully integrated on both sides. Kind of like running to your parents like a baby crying and them picking you up, that’s what mysticism does for me. Forever grateful ✨

This is exactly what my biggest problem is. I have a paralyzing fear of death that I have to speak to a therapist weekly. I NEED my boundaries and anchor to ego. I can’t even smoke weed because it’s too dissolving. Even looking at the sky at night makes me dizzy because to see where we really are is too destabilizing for me. And it’s like the one thing nothing can cure.

Have you ever considered doing a podcast of your own? I listen to your videos on my walks every day, I would be your first subscriber. 😆

There was a moment when i got passed my depression that I felt deeply comfortable inside my body but also aware of how disposable it was and I have to say it kinda fixed the insecurities I had that was generated by the patriarchy

This also happened to us listening to a podcast on the human heartbeat. It even came with a warning that you should not be operating machinery. We were like pffft.. and drove right through a red light by accident

It sounds like you were listening to Robert Sapolsky or someone sharing his work on that podcast. Would love to know what podcast that was. Sounds very sweeping in topics and informative!

experiencing this really puts into perspective how similar "good" and "bad" perceptions really are, deep down. i always use the example of the swoopy feeling while on a rollercoaster, it's the same feeling you get when falling down the stairs. with this mindset I've been able to (sometimes, to a degree) experience some persistent pains relating to my chronic illness as neutral sensations.
