If you look into the story, the little girl had gotten out previously, which, for most parents would mean extra baby proofing making sure doors are locked. Windows are locked, etc.. My son is autistic and a runner. He got out one time. I was not aware he knew how to use the sliding door and then when the screen got stuck, he just pushed the sliding screen out of his way. He did not leave my front yard, but in the five minutes that I was in the bathroom, he was outside in a pull-up only at 2 1/2 years old. After that I put alarms on the sliding door and a bar in the tracks to stop him from doing it again. It is rare for me to nap/sleep if he is awake. If I do it’s because I’m exhausted and sick and didn’t mean to doze off.

My daughter… my 9 year old daughter. Went “missing” for 45 seconds. (She was fine she walked up the road to find her lunchbox she dropped walking home😅😅) And I was ALREADY on the phone with the police. I could not FATHOM waiting an hour to call police if a 2 year old was missing.

I was watching my brother one time and was on the phone with my grandfather. I realized he was missing didn't see him in yard because I was on porch. I called down the street to my paps my step dad came rushing home ..... turns out my brother was behind the couch sleeping. 😅

My 2 year old tries to run out the door too. Guess what? We put chains on our doors and also I don’t take NAPS in the middle of the day… being a parent takes sacrifice. It’s our job to keep these kids safe! There’s no excuse for this.
