Rent backs this long can definitely work in many markets, but I wouldn’t advise my clients doing more than 28 days at best in San Diego. I actually offer 10 day closes and include a free 20 day rent back off the top on nearly all offers

Rent back might be your best options, specially since uou mentioned rent backs are common in your area.

Recast is tricky because you need to be able to qualify for essentially a second mortgage with your income. Then, you better hope your current home doesn't sit on the market long or now you're having to carry two mortgages, one super high due to the low down payment.
