@lake_country_log_homes: Handcrafted Logs, Protected Every Step of the Way After our log finishers hand peel and chisel the logs and after the log home crafting is completed, protecting the wood is part of the process. During log construction at our yard in Sicamous, British Columbia, we apply Sansin Timber-Tec C20, a penetrating, breathable temporary wood protection designed for log and timber homes. This coating helps shield the logs from UV exposure and weather during construction, transportation, and while the home is being assembled at the client’s building site. It protects the wood until the final treatment and finish are applied. Also each log end is had end sealer applied during the construction stage. Log ends absorb moisture much faster than the rest of the wood, so sealing them helps reduce moisture intrusion and minimizes excessive checking (cracking) as the logs naturally dry and settle.
