At 41 weeks +5 days, labor finally began. My unmedicated birth taught me PATIENCE, PERSEVERANCE, and I truly saw God manifested the whole way through, 30 hours of labor!! Doing what was best for me and baby, trusting God, my body, and it felt redeeming yet again! Having my husband, midwife, and doula’s support got me through it all. I had to go to the deepest parts of my soul to find strength and at the end, the reward was beyond anything else I’ve experienced! Labor started in the evening, it continued the whole night though and slowed down by morning. The next day, I was still laboring, taking micro naps in between and resting as much as I could to have energy for when active labor hit in. When it finally came, contractions were coming in every 3 minutes, I was progressing and got to 9 cm. Then my water broke and it was a big shock for baby. His heart rate started fluctuating: dropping a lot and going high up to compensate. After the 2nd time it happened my midwife called the shot to head to the hospital as a prevention. That’s why we set up amazing birth teams, to know how to be safe. In the car ride to the hospital his heart rate stabilized and he was perfect. I got to the hospital and within 25 minutes I was pushing my baby and I had him in my arms! Perfect, whole, healthy and in that moment that’s all that mattered. I appreciated my midwife making that decision and us not questioning it once. I feel so proud of myself for laboring for that long, enduring, and seeing it through. I feel proud of myself for being flexible and doing what was best for my baby at all times. I feel proud of myself for still having an unmedicated natural birth and feeling it all. The intensity, the oxytocin, the redemption and feeling like super woman right after!! Within 2 hours of arriving to the hospital, we were back in my husband’s truck and headed home with our baby boy & midwife. My midwife did his newborn screening, and we were in shock when we learned he weighed 9 POUNDS!! #unmedicatedbirth #birthstory #homebirth #partonatural
