Those should never be the worries of a 13-year-old. Even though I try to play it off, act normal and live life like I’m not in heart failure and terrified she knows. She sees the truth in my eyes, my body and my breathing. I hope that when she is older and looks back on her childhood, she remembers more than this version of me. My mom passed away from cardiomyopathy. I wouldn’t trade the time I spent taking care of her. The time I had and the memories. Those memories are forever mine. She won’t think about the bad times nearly as much as your laugh, the sound of your voice, the hug that only you can give, and so much more. Make as many memories as possible. It can be as simple as binge watching favorite shows with treats.
