Brother, if you can you are far better off with a machine. I’m a mobile Ag mechanic and I did it that way for years. It works no doubt but a machine is so much faster. I recommend the Snapon polertek machine because it has locking scales so you don’t have to worry about calibrations and so far has been a really good machine for me. I have a robinair as well but I don’t like it

Field piece makes a micron gage you can tie into the gages with a t, or get a four port manifold to verify you’ve pulled a good vacuum, improves the longevity of the repair and cuts out the guessing. Those gages also have a decae test built in. I’m in the same area if you need access to the parts houses that sell them reach out. I do automotive on the side and residential hvac full time.
