Here is what you need to do – fast and step by step: 🚨 Emergency situation – stay calm and act! ⸻ 🟢 1 If the baby is still coughing • 👶 Do not interfere • 💨 Coughing is good → the baby is trying to clear the airway • 👀 Only observe ⸻ 🔴 2 If the baby is NOT breathing properly / no effective cough 👇 Step 1: Back blows • 👶 Place the baby face down on your forearm (head lower than the body) • ✋ Support the head at the lower jaw (do not press the soft throat!) • 💥 Give 5 firm blows between the shoulder blades ⸻ 👇 Step 2: Chest thrusts • 👶 Turn the baby face up, still keeping the head low • ✌️ Use two fingers on the breastbone (as in CPR) • 💥 Give 5 quick chest thrusts ⸻ 🔁 3 Repeat • 🔄 Repeat steps 1 and 2 as long as the baby is choking ⸻ ⚠️ 4 If the baby becomes unresponsive • 📞 Call emergency services for your country • 💨 Start with 5 initial breaths • 💓 Then start CPR: 30 compressions + 2 breaths ⸻ 💓 CPR – Babies (0–12 months) • 👤 1 rescuer: 30 compressions + 2 breaths • 🧑🤝🧑 2 rescuers: 15 compressions + 2 breaths ⸻ 🧒 CPR – Children (about 1 year to puberty) • 👤 1 rescuer: 30 : 2 • 🧑🤝🧑 2 rescuers: 15 : 2 ⸻ 👨 CPR – Adults • 👤 + 🧑🤝🧑 always 30 : 2 (no change with 2 rescuers) ⸻ ❗ Important • 🚫 Never use abdominal thrusts on babies • 🚫 Never put fingers blindly into the mouth (only remove the object if you can clearly see it)
