It makes you wonder about Northern Africa. They identified many lakes and river systems that now no longer exist. Some have predicted that it happened thousands of years ago but other scientists have predicted that this happens just a few hundred years ago.

It’s not just the Soviets. Each country and surrounding area runs off highly inefficient irrigation systems. They spend way too much water on little return and it’s a rate faster than it will naturally fill. This isn’t just unique to here. North America, in the United States has multiple examples of this. This is a global problem. We need smarter water solutions all over the world.
