The tornado changed path about 1/8th of a mile before hitting my neighborhood. I remember it like it was yesterday. I shot video and showed it with the Rockford news station.

I live north of Rochelle Grubstaker out on 64 and 251 got hit hard to but fairdale got hit the hardest that town loss two people

we live close to fairdale, another town destroyed by this same tornado. it was HUGE. it was devastating. we had heavy equipment at the time and volunteered taking down a house in esmond. the family was there watching. it must've been so hard for them to watch us.

my dad lives in Rochelle and told me about the damage. I was genuinely shocked that it was such a huge tornado as I was learning about tornados in school Rip to the people who passed away

I live in monroe center it went through our back corn field and we watched it destroy fairdale the next day we had peoples house walls and roofs in our yard. Really crazy experience for a 13 year old

I live in Byron, 20 miles from Rochelle (in the same county). We were in our basement for at least an hour while the tornado sirens continuously went off, and a local tv meteorologist said “if you are not below ground, you will lose your life”. 😩 Scariest night of my life, and we’ll never forget. 🥺

I was on 88 helping a young lady with her car, I watched it form, told her to stay safe and hauled ass to the dixon exit. I passed 2 state cops on 38 trying to get to Rochelle (my home town),when I arrived it was already hitting grubsteakers. it was total devastation the likes of which I can only compare to the aftermath of a fire fight. (im a combat veteran). it was something ill never forget. especially the way the community came together to rebuild their neighbors lives.
