People underestimate utilities, forget phantom costs of repairs and buying furniture for their new home. It’s tough to live in CA 😅

Someone said, “a rental payment is the most you’ll pay and a mortgage payment is the least”

Today I learned many people don’t know an accountant likely knows little to nothing about PERSONAL finance.

Idk how you can not know what your monthly payment is going to be. There are tools everywhere and they tell you how much it’ll be when you get approval.

Taxes, insurance, maintenance, repairs. The taxes alone you have no control over and can bankrupt you in a year.

I feel this. 799k in the Oakland hills, 6500/mo isn’t fun. Only works because the lower ‘laundry room’ (400sq ft) was able to be converted to a studio and rented for 2500-3000.

I bought a house back in 2019 well below what we could afford. We have been doing great for years…This year we had a water leak that between mitigation and repairs cost around $60k, insurance paid 1/2 of it. But the other 30k all on us to figure out… welcome to home ownership.

This is why we’re buying a house on just my little salary. Then hubs salary covers everrrrrything else. If we can afford it on just mine. We can afford it with both.

Millennial here! Just bought a $840,000 3 bed 2 1/2 bath house in NorCal! First time homebuyers as well, it’s scary but we’ve been renting since 2015 and I feel like were wasting our hard-earned money to a stranger so we decided to finally buy a property. Can you please upload your part two already I wanna know your thoughts on why you made this video! 😁

Yep same. Property taxes and homeowners insurance both increased. We've how to make quite a few home repairs, some planned some emergent - none cheap. In a recession with insane inflation. Shit adds up and it gets scary. We're barely making it, but determined to stay here.
